Rice University’s Center for the Impossible will be getting a mainstream spotlight, as “Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena” will debut on Oct. 1 as a six-part docuseries on SundanceTV, AMC+ and All Reality.
Rice has hosted the massive archives from the works of Jacques Vallee, Whitley Strieber, Ed May (physicist contracted by CIA during the Stargate program) ,Richard Haines (ex-NASA scientist), and others, and is led by Professor Jeffrey Kripal. Some of the documents people can see are photos of UFOs, Uri Geller’s bent spoons, docs on remote viewing and telekinesis, and others. Rice has previously hosted conferences built around the archive that has attracted some of the biggest names from around the world in academia and paranormal research.
“We are at the point where the academic community needs to get involved,” Vallee previously said to punkrockandufos.com. “Many people in the academy worldwide have had long-term interest in the subject they just haven’t had the opportunity to go public, but now that the stigma has been removed, now is the time for researchers to come out and talk openly about their own research and contribute to the debate.”
The show is based upon the archival material and first person accounts.
“People are used to simple debunking or simple belief,” Kripal said in a news release. “They are not used to this kind of third space where we ask what this looks like historically or experientially or from physics or astronomy.”
