'The Kinderhook Creature' to shine light on suburban Sasquatch case

“The Kinderhook Creature: In the Shadow of Sasquatch” looks to help uncover the secrets of a 50-year mystery that has fueled folklore in a rural New York town. The film is is the latest release in a long line of productions from Small Town Monsters, and hits streaming platforms like Apple TV, Prime Video and Google Play on March 24.

The documentary is a companion to Bruce Hallenbeck’s book "The Kinderhook Creature and Beyond: A Personal Reminiscence,” and was funded by a 2025 kickstarter campaign.

“I was drawn to the story not really by the prospect of monsters and ghouls but by what I saw as the real, beating heart of Bruce Hallenbecks story,” said director Seth Breedlove. “The inescapable reality that truly unsettling, bizarre things can intrude into the seemingly mundane, everyday lives of ordinary people at a moments notice. That’s the story I set out to tell, and that’s what comes across as the entire crux of the story.”
